What does Satanama actually mean!

My business name explained!

SA TA NA MA is a mantra (a word or sound(s) repeated to aid meditation).

I wanted something that connected with my teaching style by embodying the spiritual, mental and physical aspects of yoga.

Hubby suggested this as for 40 days I recited this mantra (known as Kirtan Kriya in Kundalini yoga) for 11 minutes per day. Forty days is the time it takes to develop a habit, as well as experience the transformational changes a specific Kriya can effect

It is said to improve concentration and brain function, and I found it beneficial and hugely transformative. There is also a specific mudra (hand gesture) for each sound which has effects on the central nervous system.

SA - infinity (the totality of the cosmos) - thumb and forefinger

TA- Life (birth of form from the infinite) - thumb and middle finger

NA - Death (or transformation) - thumb and ring finger

MA - rebirth - thumb and pinky finger

Although my teachings are mainly ashtanga and vinyasa flow based, I delve into other areas of yoga for my personal practice, and this in turn is integrated into my teachings.

Come and experience this for yourself in one of my classes.

See my events page for details! Namaste x
